Rapper Nelly aka Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr., was arrested in August 2024 for possession of a controlled substance: Ecstasy.

Nelly was detained inside the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles, Missouri due to an outstanding warrant for not having proof of insurance in an earlier traffic stop.

The Casino apparently runs a verification check on big winners as required by state law.

Due to his winning of several jackpots, the Casino ran a background check and found the outstanding warrant from the insurance issue.

Once in custody, the Officers found four pills alleged to be Ecstacy.

Nelly’s lawyer suggests that the background check was not reasonable and the search disclosing the pills was not legal.
